Isola Improves RoHS-compliant Substrate

(December 6, 2006) CHANDLER, ARIZONA — Isola Group s.a.r.l. commercially released an improved generation of IS415, a 200°C Tg product with lead-free compatibility and strong signal integrity. Electrical loss numbers reach 0.009 using the splitpost resonant cavity method. With Bereskin stripline testing loss equals around 0.0135 at 10 GHz. These improvements address a need for higher bandwidth and faster data rates, said Tarun Amla, vice president and CTO of Isola Group.

The RoHS-compliant IS415 is a UL94V-0 rated substrate for lead-free applications and high-reliability devices. High decomposition temperature and low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) properties are said to enhance thermal-reliability performance when combined with stable and predictable dielectric constant. The characteristics suit high-speed applications. IS415 is available in North America, with manufacturing to begin in Asia early 2007.
