Taiwan PCB Maker Orders Camtek AOI

(July 25, 2007) MIGDAL HAEMEK, Israel — Camtek will install 44 next-generation automated optical inspection (AOI) systems, and upgrade existing systems to meet more advanced requirements, for a PCB manufacturer based in Taiwan. The multi-million-dollar order will be implemented over Q'03 and '04 2007.

Camtek will deliver 44 Dragon and Orion AOI systems from its 3G family. Dragon 3G systems target medium- to high-end and mass-production AOI requirements for PCBs with down to 30-µm line-space technology. The systems feature enhanced optics, and updated firmware to enable faster, more accurate defect detection. Customized systems in the 3G family target rigid-flex, large-panel, and other specific PCBs. The next-generation Orion AOI system is based on Camtek's Inspectify platform and suits mass production of medium-technology PCBs.

The company will also invest in 32 system upgrades to meet 3G performance levels. More than 20 units of CVR100 verification and repair systems will complete the order. The PCB manufacturer is based in Taiwan; however, the systems will be installed in a plant opening in mainland China. The AOI and verification equipment in the order matches high-throughput, high-volume manufacturing.
