SMTA Partners with MentorNet

(April 15, 2008) MINNEAPOLIS — The Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA) formed a partnership with MentorNet to facilitate mentorship opportunities for its student members. The partnership allows members of the SMTA privileges to resources offered by MentorNet such as its one-on-one program, easy matching to SMTA members, and the resume database for students.

The MentorNet E-Mentoring program is designed to provide information, encouragement, and support to community college, undergraduate, and graduate students, post-doctorates, and untenured faculty. Protégés are matched in one-on-one e-mentoring relationships with mentors who have work experience, and MentorNet provides the training, coaching, and support for them to pursue an eight-month mentoring relationship. Since 1998, MentorNet has matched more than 21,000 mentoring pairs.
