Engelmaier Associates, L.C. released version v.08 of its "Recommendations for PCB FAB Notes and Specifications in Printed Circuit Board Drawings for SnPb and Lead-Free Soldering Assemblies, the Qualification of PCB Shops and Activities to Assure Continued Quality." The white paper includes recommendations on appropriate specifications and "FAB Notes" on drawings for PCBs, general procedures to qualify PCB shops and to assure they would be producing PCBs of good quality, and testing procedures to verify quality and reliability. An additional material selection information section supplements slash sheets found in IPC-4101. It contains recommended examples of "FAB Notes" one for tin/lead solder assemblies and one for RoHS-compliant lead-free solder assemblies serving as general specifications on PCB drawings, a basic questionnaire for new PCB shops to be qualified meant as a supplement to IPC-1710, as well as recommendations for ongoing activities to assure that qualified PCB shops maintain the quality of the PCBs produced by them. Version v.08 now includes 29 specific FAB Notes, many with sub-notes, for the specification of PCBs to be used in lead-free assemblies. www.engelmaier.com.
Jeff Cannis joined Technic as manager, technical services, with responsibility for Technic's Western region customers. He also will oversee the analytical laboratory, wafer plating lab, and certain facilities management functions. Having previously held key roles in senior management for Amkor, Delphi Jade Technologies, and TRW Cinch Connector, Jeff brings extensive processing engineering, lab management, and a technical electroplating background to Technic. Jeff holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry and has a strong technical background in semiconductor packaging. www.technic.com.
AIM named Michael Burgess to the position of strategic account manager. He will promote AIM's full line of solder assembly materials to existing and potential multinational customers. He also will be responsible for managing and coordinating all promotional, sales, and support activities to these customers. Christina Lane was appointed to handle Prototron sales in Northern California. Lane will report to Russ Adams, Prototron's Western regional manager. Lane will be responsible for all sales efforts in Northern California, which is targeted to be a strong territory for Prototron. Lane previously worked with companies such as Winonics, Westac, Phase 2, and Data Circuits, among others. She also owned the rep firm Lane and Associates. www.prototron.com.

Milplex Circuit (Canada) inc. of Ontario added Damon DeSilva as national sales manager. DeSilva will report directly to the president in this new position. He will be responsible for all outside sales for Milplex Circuit (Canada) Inc., including managing the independent rep sales network. The Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PSMA) named Rob Hill and Marshall Miles to its Board of Directors, also reelecting Alex Levran, Ph.D. and Bharat Shah. Hill has over 16 years of experience in the power industry, with a dual role at Murata Power Solutions. Miles is founder of Power Perceptions. Levran is an executive at Power-One. Shah has been involved in the PSMA for over twenty years, and is a VP at Emerson Network Power and a representative for the Green Grid organization. www.psma.com.
